Connecting important books with Urdu readers.
Maqaleed is a translation and publishing initiative bringing important works from Palestine and other parts of the Muslim world to readers in Pakistan.
Authors in these societies write about their histories, circumstances, collective experiences and intellectual concerns. Their books contain observations and perspectives that deserve to be understood through the complete work. Language barriers often prevent readers from having that opportunity.
We are particularly interested in books that allow people to describe their own lives, circumstances and perspectives. Our scope also includes works of scholarly, historical, literary and intellectual significance.
We select books according to their value, sources, subject matter and relevance to Pakistani readers. Whether a work was originally written in Arabic or another language, our purpose is to convey its meaning and character in clear Urdu.
Over time, we aim to develop a lasting collection that supports serious reading, research and intellectual growth.
